Hi! I am Woodglen's Music Specialist. I am a graduate of the School of Music at the University of Oregon and been teaching music for 32 years (mostly in Oregon). This is my sixth year in Co
lorado and second year in the Adams 12 School District.
Music classes at Woodglen include experiences in a wide variety of world cultures. Students participate in singing, instrument playing, music literacy, games and movement and dance.
Kindergarten students are getting lots of practice singing simple melodies, keeping a steady beat, playing basic percussion instruments and preparing to play xylophones.
Through November the first and second graders are involved in learning Native American songs and games. We will focus on playing frame drums and other basic percussion.
Third graders are in the midst of preparing a Winter Program. This program will be presented on December 18th at 1:15 and 7:
00 PM.
Fourth and fifth graders spent the month of October learning the basics of playing guitars. In November we will focus on Native American cultures and patriotic songs.
CHOIR is working hard on a variety of holiday songs. We have applied to perform at two different venues in December (besides the school performance on December 18). More information will be available when we receive word that we have been accepted.
