Accelerated Reader Goals for November: I am so impressed by the reading effort of the kids last month.  Everyone was reading and passing lots of tests.  The students need to read One chapter book this month and pass a test on it.  They can read as many picture books as they like.  As long as they keep reading (books at a resonable lexile level), I will hold off on mandating word goals.  So, just check in with your child occasionally to ensure that he or she is in fact reading.  Thank-you for your support!!

SPELLING WORDS: WEEK OF 11/2:  ANGLE, ANGEL, STABLE, SETTLE, MODEL, NICKEL, TRAVEL, FABLE, LABEL, EAGLE  WEEK OF 11/ 9 -11/18: JOURNAL, RIVAL, NORMAL, SIGNAL, GLOBAL, COUNCIL, GERBIL, STENCIL, NOSTRIL, FOSSIL  WEEK OF 11/18-11/24:  PERIL, EVIL, CIVIL, PUPIL, TONSIL, HOSTILE, MISSILE, MOBILE, FUTILE, STERILE 

READING  GOALS : STUDENTS MUST READ AND TAKE AN ACCELERATED READER TEST ON ONE CHAPTER BOOK THIS MONTH.  THIS IS A REQUIREMENT AND SHOULD BE DONE AT HOME AS HOMEWORK EVEN IF YOUR CHILD FINDS SOME TIME IN CLASS TO READ.  IN ADDITION, WE WILL BE READING AND TAKING TESTS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.  OUR GOAL IS TO REACH AROUND 2000 WORDS AN AVERAGE WEEK.  THESE WORDS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CHAPTER BOOK EXPECTATION AND ARE AN IN CLASS ASSIGNMENT.  STUDENTS WHO READ ADDITIONAL CHAPTER BOOKS ABOVE THE EXPECTATION WILL BE REWARDED.

 October Reading Counts Goals

To meet your October Reading Counts goal is if your reading level is 100-499 5,000 words, Reading level is 500-899 15, 000 words, and if your reading level is 899- or higher 25, 000 words.  Also you need to have an average percent of 70%. If you do no  meet this goal your reading grade will be effected.
